About ME

Christine Bork

Chief Development Officer, American Academy of Pediatrics

I run a $27M fundraising operation with a 15-person team at the American Academy of Pediatrics. It's a dream job for me.

I sit in the same budget meetings you do. I answer to a CEO, and I lose sleep over the same pipeline reports.

Over 3 years, we grew from $16M to $27M with zero new frontline fundraisers. We put the money into systems and support roles. That's most of what I write about.

I started Chief Fundraiser Weekly because I couldn't find anyone writing about the work I actually do: building a team that holds up when your best person leaves, moving the board to action, and managing up without burning the relationship.

Who it's for

You lead a program raising $10M to $25M a year, probably in healthcare or social services. You know how to raise money. Now you're building a shop that doesn't fall apart when you take a week off.

I write as a peer. I'm a practicing CDO with 30+ years in the work, and I share what's working in my shop (and what isn't).

On your way to the top seat? You're welcome here too.

What you get

One issue every Sunday. 5 minutes to read.

Each one takes a real decision from my work and turns it into something you can use Monday morning: a named framework and, most weeks, a free tool you can copy.

It's free. Unsubscribe anytime.

Where I've been

Before AAP, I built development programs at CureSearch for Children's Cancer, the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago (where I was CEO), a hospital foundation, and the American Red Cross.
